 PERSEID METEOR SHOWER: ANNUAL CELESTIAL EVENT TO PEAK IN AUGUST AS NASA SPOTS FIRST GLOWING FRAGMENT.


The Perseid meteor shower happens once a year in the night sky as Earth passes in the path of comet fragments from the Swift-Tuttle. The celestial event will peak in mid-August, giving stargazers the opportunity to search the night sky for spectacular lights. The meteor count
might reach 60 per hour during the event. Despite the fact that the brightness of the moon affects the best time to witness the spectacular celestial display, one meteor that looks like a shooting star may be seen every two minutes

 INDIA’S LIGHTEST AND PUNE’S FIRST METRO TRAIN-SET UNVEILED IN ITALY.


On Monday, Italy welcomed India’s lightest and Pune’s first Metro train. It will be delivered in India by December of this year, according to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. Titagarh Wagons Ltd, located in Titagarh, West Bengal, conducted a virtual ceremony today to
unveil their first train designed for the Pune Metro system. Ambassador of India to Italy, Neena Malhotra, Ambassador of Italy to India, Vincenzo de Luca, Maharashtra Metro Cooperation
Managing Director Brijesh Dixit, and others were present at the virtual event.

 KOLKATA TO SIACHEN ON CYCLE-RICKSHAW: SATEYA DAS’S JOURNEY TO HIGHLIGHT GLOBAL WARMING.


On his cycle-rickshaw, Sateya Das is making the long commute from Kolkata’s Bablatala to the Siachen border. His message this time is on global warming: “Save Water, Save Earth, Save Nature.” On Sunday afternoon, ateya Das set out on his adventure. It will take three months to
complete this journey. On his journey to Siachen, he’ll also be carrying 1,000 masks to give. Tapash Chatterjee, a TMC MLA, was the one who kicked off his quest.

After the state’s first incidence of the zika virus was detected in the Pune area, the Maharashtra Health Department is conducting a door-to-door survey and monitoring people. We’ll undertake
a house-to-house survey of all communities within 5 kilometres of where the initial case was recorded over the following three days, covering seven villages and 9,000 individuals. We’ve
also formed teams to keep an eye on things.

 INDIA, BANGLADESH RESUME FREIGHT SERVICES ON HALDIBARI-CHILAHATI RAIL ROUTE AFTER 56 YEARS.


Freight services between India and Bangladesh via the Haldibari–Chilahati train route have been resumed after 56 years in an effort to boost commercial links between the two nations. This rail link is also expected to provide northeast India with an opportunity to enter the
international market. The distance between Haldibari railway station and the international
border is 4.5 kilometres, whereas the distance between Chilhati and the international border is
around 7.5 kilometres.

• INDIA-US JOINT VENTURE: WHAT IS NASA-ISRO SYNTHETIC APERTURE RADAR (NISAR)


During then-President Barack Obama’s visit to India in 2015, India and the US agreed on the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission. NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) is yet to be launched. According to Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State
for Science and Technology, Earth Sciences; MoS Atomic Energy, Space, NISAR would be launched in early 2023.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used video conferencing to introduce e-RUPI, an electronic voucher-based digital payment system. e-RUPI is a person- and purpose-specific payment system that ensures that benefits are delivered to their intended recipients in a targeted and leak-proof way. The National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), the Department of
Financial Services, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and the National Health Authority created the e-RUPI platform.

• JOHNSON & JOHNSON WITHDRAWS COVID-19 VACCINE APPROVAL PROPOSAL IN INDIA


According to sources close to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), Johnson & Johnson has withdrawn its application for approval of its single-shot Covid-19 vaccine in India. Johnson & Johnson has yet to explain the withdrawal. In April, the US-based firm applied for permission to undertake a bridging clinical trial in India for its Janssen Covid-19 vaccine candidate.
