INLAND VESSELS BILL 2021  WAS APPROVED BY INDIAN GOVERNMENT


 The Cabinet Cabinet has approved the Inland Vessels Bill, 2021, which will replace the Inland Vessels Act, 1917. Key provisions of the bill At present, a total of 4,000 km of waterways are in operation. The Bill will regulate the safety, security and registration of vessels entering the country. The Bill provides for the combined law of the whole of India instead of separate laws.

WORLD COMPETITIVENESS INDEX 2021


The World Competitiveness Index is compiled by the Institute for Development Management (IMD) which is examining the impact of COVID-19 on the global economy. Highlights India is ranked 43rd among 64 countries. Switzerland tops the list and is followed by Sweden (2), Denmark (3), the Netherlands (4) and Singapore (5).

15 TH GLOBAL PEACE INDEX 


The 15th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI) has been announced by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in Sydney. Key points GPI is the world’s leading measure of global peace. The index includes 163 regions and territories as per their peace level. The report provides a comprehensive analysis driven by details of peace trends, their economic value and is commendable.

HEBBAL NAGAWARA VALLEY PROJECT


Residents and environmentalists are fighting for a proposal to clear more than 6,000 trees in Singanayakanahalli to build a pond under the Hebbal-Nagawara Valley Project by the Karnataka Small Irrigation Department. The Department of Forestry, in a recent announcement, has proposed deforestation of 6 316 trees to improve the Singanayakanahalli lake, Yelahanka hobli, as they come in the right direction.

A new species called “Stygarctus Keralensis” has been discovered in Kerala. This small and difficult type of Tardigrade is named after Kerala. ‘’ Tardigrades Small-scale Tardigrades are commonly referred to as ‘water bears’ and ‘moss piglets’. “DEEP OCEAN MISSION”


The Union Cabinet approved the ‘Deep Ocean Mission’ proposed by the Department of Earth Sciences to conduct biodiversity research, the impact of climate change and the establishment of a marine hydropower station to test the thermal energy source. Highlights Mission will look to the Deep Ocean to find resources and help develop deep marine technology for sustainable use.

JAPAN READY TO RELEASE THEIR VACCINATION PASSPORT


Japan will make the vaccination passport available from next month for Japanese travelers with a view to resuming tourism and business travel abroad. Highlights This certificate will be based on paper and not digital. It will be released by local government from next month

BIDEN SIGN A LAW FOR HOLIDAY


U.S. President Joe Biden must sign a law making June 19 or “fifteenth” a national holiday. This holiday will be adopted by the provincial government to commemorate the end of slavery after the American Civil War.
